Must-Visit Vintage Shops in Amsterdam
What is the perfect way to spend an afternoon in a beautiful city like Amsterdam? I bet a lot of suggestions come to mind – especially if you haven’t visited the capital of The Netherlands before. Slendering along the canals while eating a pastry might be one of them (and for good reason).
But one of my personal favorites when I visit a new city is taking the afternoon to explore the city’s selection of vintage stores and thrift shops. I believe this is the best way to find a souvenir to bring back home with you – one I can guarantee you will use more than a tiny figure from a gift shop.
If you are planning on going to Amsterdam (or fortunate enough to live there) you are in luck, cause the city is packed with amazing vintage stores. There are actually so many, that it can be difficult to visit them all in one afternoon.
But lucky for you, this guide will help you find the best vintage shops in Amsterdam.
So let’s get to it!

Wini is one of those vintage stores in Amsterdam, that has become sort of an institution. It’s been around since 1997, and there is a good reason why this vintage store hasn’t run out of business in all these years.

Opening Hours | 11 am -7 pm
There are no less than four Episode thrift stores in Amsterdam, so all you have to do is pick one that fits your vintage route.
Episode is a border-crossing thrift store concept – they got a great thrift store in Copenhagen for example. But that doesn’t make it deserve a spot on this list any less. Actually, it shows that the people behind the concept know what they are doing.
The selection is unique and you can truly make a great and cheap find here. Sometimes you have to do a little digging and search – but if you ask me that is half the fun of vintage hunting. All in all a great place for vintage shopping, if you are looking for something unique.

Kilo shop
Location | Jodenbreestraat 158, 1011 NS Amsterdam, Holland
Opening Hours | 11 am – 7 pm
There are multiple Kilo vintage shops in Amsterdam, but my favorite is KILO. The concept of buying vintage per kilo for a set price has become quite popular in the last couple of years, and these concept stores are popping up everywhere.
The principle of the concept is that you buy the clothes per kilo for a set price. Usually, you end up paying the same price as in any other vintage store, so it’s not like you make a crazy bargain by going here.
But their selection is huge and consists of some great unique pieces, so if it is cool vintage items you are looking for definitely stop by one of the Kilo stores,

Zipper
Location | Haarlemmerstraat 8, 1013 ER Amsterdam, Holland
Opening Hours | 11 am – 6 pm
Zipper is one of the oldest vintage shops in Amsterdam, but the store’s heart beats just as hard for vintage as it did in 1978, when the thrift store opened.
Zipper is truly born out of a love for vintage – this is actually what brought the couple behind the store together and what made them move form LA to Amsterdam to open up their own store.
The couple Agnes and Giles found each other over their shared love for vintage clothes, and this love shines through in the store and every single piece in there.
Their old-school love for vintage shows in how they hand-pick every item, and then hand-wash it and iron it afterwards. Forget all about the idea of vintage being smelly – in this thrift store everything is beautifully displayed, which makes is so much fun to brows through the thrift shop.

De IJ-hallen
Location | T.T. Neveritaweg 15, 1033 WB Amsterdam-Noord
Opening Hours |
I know that this technically is a guide to the best vintage shops in Amsterdam. But I had to include a fleamarket. Especially when it is as good as this one. Forget all about old broken pottery, dirty toys, and smelly old stuff. This flea market is filled with great vintage treasures.
And why wouldn’t it be – it’s the biggest flea market in Europe! Because of the size of De Ij-Hallen, there is a good chance you’ll find something you like here. Especially since the selection is so unique and broad.
But do you know what the best part of this fleamarket is? It is the perfect place to make a bargain, cause the prices are super low and the standard super high. If that doesn’t make this a must-visit thrift shop stop in Amsterdam, then I don’t know what will.
